Man With Migraines Are More Prone To Be Depressed
People suffering from headache, especially migraine disorder, are much more predisposed to be depressed, feel fatigued, and have a host of other bad physical symptoms, according to a clinical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical research involved 1200 woman who buy seroquel at headache clinics in nine states. Of the patient tested, 343 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 656 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patients were diagnosed with migraines.
The medical investigation found people with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with occasional headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms linked to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among man tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical study found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the patient also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms would incite or be a manifestation of major Manic Depression in women with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Depression can heighten pain perception,” said clinical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical investigation are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Major Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Careless of what’s causing the link between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric disease such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can rouse poorer consequences for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The medical investigation was backinged, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American patients are affected by headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 20,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to making better woman care through education and medical study. A neurologist is a osteopath with specialized training in diagnosing, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and frequent sclerosis.
